Salary: $11 479 /course (including vacation pay).

The Department of Anthropology is inviting applications to teach a course in Winter 2026. Please complete the online application form and upload the required documents. Applications will be ranked according to the collective agreement between ³ÉÈË´óÆ¬ University and the MCLIU. Preference will be given to the qualified applicant with the most priority points. ³ÉÈË´óÆ¬ University is committed to equity in employment and diversity. ANTH 201- Introduction to Archaeology

Exploration of the definition of the discipline of archaeology and the ways that archaeologists reconstruct the past. Overview of goals, theories, research questions, and methods of anthropological archaeology.

January 5 – April 14, 2026: Mondays & Wednesdays (2:35 – 3:55 pm)
Location: Macdonald Harrington Building G-10

Teaching Qualification Requirements:
Education: MA required; Priority to holders of Ph.Ds with specialization in relevant areas, or near completion of degree.
Experience: Priority will be given to candidates with expertise in relevant field and laboratory research methods, a capacity to manage course laboratory sessions, and experience teaching archaeology at the introductory level.

ANTH 308 – Political Anthropology 01

The study of political systems and political processes. Conflict and its resolution. The emphasis of the course will be on local-level politics and non-industrial societies.

January 5 – April 14, 2026: Tuesday & Thursday (11:35 am – 12:55 pm)

Teaching Qualification Requirements:
Education: MA required; Priority to holders of Ph.Ds. with specialization in relevant areas, or near completion of degree.
Experience: Priority will be given to candidates with relevant field research background and experience in teaching political anthropology.

ANTH 340 - Middle Eastern Society and Culture

Exploration of daily life, culture and society in the Middle East, through examination of ethnographic accounts.

January 5 – April 14, 2026: Tuesday & Thursday (2:35 – 3:55 pm)
Location: McConnell Engineering 11

Teaching Qualification Requirements:
Education: MA required, priority to holders of PhDs with specialization in relevant areas, or near completion of PhD.
Experience: Priority will be given to candidates with relevant field research background in the Middle East, and experience in teaching Anthropology of the Middle East.

ANTH 504 - Environmental Archaeology
Study of long-term relationships between humans and their environments based on empirical evidence. Topics include review of methodological tools in paleoecological reconstruction, and approaches to evaluating human-environment relationships. Examples will be drawn from various subfields, including, but not limited to, settlement archaeology, human ecology, and landscape archaeology.

January 5 – April 14, 2026: Tuesday (2:35 –5:25 pm)
Location: Leacock 721
